Before watching, know that there are some pretty graphic scenes, where people actually allow themselves to be nailed to a cross.
However, it's a documentary (part of one) and it's well worth the watch, since it lays out how credible the gospels are, where they came from and so forth.
These people want to experience the pain that Jesus supposedly experienced and believe that it helps them wash away their sins.
CA: A few comments
ReplyDeleteDoubts and hypotheses about Jesus' death and resurrection have been around since the beginning. See Matthew 28:11-15.
I don't know who the "some (who) claim that Luke has the shortest account of the crucifixion" are, but Luke 23:44-46 says "And it was already about the sixth hour and darkness came upon the whole land until the ninth hour...and Jesus cried with a loud voice...(and) he breathed his last." I know of no Greek manuscript as the "expert" quoted it.
John 19:31-37 says that the soldiers found Jesus already dead, but just to be sure, one of them stabbed his side with a spear.
It's sad that these people are trying to purge their sins when Jesus already accomplished this by his crucifixion.
I still urge to read the Gospels for yourself. They'll shed a lot of light on what the critics say.
